I am a fully self-accepted bacterhuman, bioartist (BFA, Concordia University, Montreal, MFA University of Windsor, CA), and scientist (Ph.D. in plant science, UPMC, Paris, FR) named Nathalie Dubois Calero, and my works are a feminist act of reconciliation with my non (or too much?) human components. Microbes are the media I use in workshops, performances, videos, and object-making. My recent project, BacterHuman, focuses on the cutaneous microbiota (all the microorganisms living on and inside the skin) and the multifaceted relationships we have with it. I have been invited to participate in the FEMeeting Sisterlabs panels and events in Toronto (March 23-28, 2024), where I performed BacterHuman and, with Cecilia Vilca, Mother Virus, a performative game. I am also collaborating with Ada Gogova (How to change wine in water?). I am a member of the Incubator Art Lab at the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Artiste plasticien autodidacte et neuroatypique, Octavio Rüest est né à Montpellier (France) en 1987. Il vit et travaille à Montréal depuis 2003. Il y fait l'expérience profonde des inégalités sociales. Un processus d'immigration au ralentit le contraint au travail illégal dans des chantiers et usines. Ces cinq années marquent une époque charnière dont l’impact transparait dans son travail actuel. Néanmoins il continue d'affiner sa pratique du dessin et diversifie ses interventions dans l'espace public pendant plus de vingt ans. Par ailleurs, il approfondit l'apprentissage de la peinture décorative auprès d’un maître de l’école flamande Van Der Kelen. Actuellement, Il présente son travail sous forme d’estampes, de livres d’artiste et de murales. De plus, ses dessins sont publiés dans la revue Liberté. Tandis qu’il poursuit actuellement ses études à l’université Concordia en Arts imprimés, il continue de produire des œuvres d’art public et intervient en tant que médiateur artistique auprès de divers organismes locaux.

Pedro Barbáchano is an artist, cultural worker and educator working between Tiohtià:ke/ Montreal and Cairo, Egypt. His practice observes speculative archaeology, the critique of historical and photographic documents and issues with the representation of subaltern identities culminating as sculptural installations, books, and augmented reality experiences stemming from the photographic image. He has exhibited in Spain, Canada and Egypt in venues such as SCAN (Tarragona, Spain) and Leonard and Bina Ellen Gallery (Montreal, Canada). Barbáchano is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Roloff Beny Fellowship in Photography, the Gabor Szilasi Prize in Photography, the Post Image Research Fellowship, the Steven Goldberg Bursary, John W. O’Brien Graduate Fellowship and the Heather & Erin Walker Humanitarian Award. His work can be found in private collections in Canada and Spain. Barbáchano is currently pursuing an MFA and has lectured at Concordia University (Montreal).

Stéphanie est une Lavalloise d’adoption. Elle jongle avec sa vie d’artiste, de mère, et de géographe. Elle a complété un certificat en arts visuels à l’UQAM en 2019 et poursuit ses études au baccalauréat en beaux-arts à l’Université Concordia. Amoureuse du papier, elle navigue entre les arts imprimés, l’installation et la sculpture. En 2020, avec Julie Lequin pour mentore, elle participe au projet de mentorat en recherche création de Verticale – centre d’artistes. Ce fut l’amorce d’une réflexion sur l’importance du regard de « l’autre ». Comment le regardeur se projette-t-il dans ce qu’il regarde ?
